A renovation project foresees interventions in the English Quarter’s 4 buildings, including different levels of work and new uses. The buildings will compose a mixed condominium in horizontal property: the old English Hospital will function as a housing building, attaching the old Theater English, the Economist Order will function as the Campo de Ourique Health Center and the former Parsonnage (former university) will be turned into a two-family dwelling.

The set results in a unique identity, emphasizing the historical role that the quarter has had in the city.

The new architectural image establishes a dialectic relation with the nearest surroundings, either with the garden inside the block represented in the new geometry of the roofs in green glazed tiles, either on the side of the streets, framing the style in the morphological context of Lisbon.

Obra de reabilitação dos 4 edifícios que compõe o Quarteirão Inglês, congregando diferentes níveis de intervenção e novos usos. Os edifícios vão constituir um condomínio misto, nomeadamente o antigo Hospital Inglês que irá funcionar como edifício de habitação, aglutinando o antigo Teatro Inglês, a Ordem dos Economistas que irá funcionar como Centro de Saúde de Campo de Ourique e o antigo Parsonnage (antiga universidade) que irá funcionar como uma habitação bi-familiar.

Pretende-se que do conjunto resulte uma composição equilibrada, na qual se possa observar uma identidade única, a funcionar como um todo e a enfatizar o papel histórico que o quarteirão teve na cidade.

A nova imagem arquitectónica estabelece uma relação de dialética com a envolvente mais próxima, quer do lado do generoso maciço arbóreo interior do quarteirão, representado na nova geometria das coberturas revestidas em azulejo quinado vidrado no tom verde-escuro, quer do lado dos arruamentos, enquadrando a linguagem no contexto morfológico de Lisboa.
